Baltimore County to Purchase Open Space in Middle River

Open Space

Middle River, MD – Baltimore County Councilwoman Cathy Bevins joined with County Executive Don Mohler and other Administration Officials at the Middle River Volunteer Ambulance Rescue Company on Leland Ave to announce the purchase of nearly 23 acres of Open Space. The 23 acres of wooded land are located between Wampler Road and Eastern Avenue in Middle River. The property is currently zoned Density Residential (D.R.) 2. D.R. 2 zoning permits two units for every acre. However, Baltimore County’s purchase of this land to be used for passive open space will ensure it will never be developed for homes

“I am thankful for the Administration purchasing this land. I am always looking for sites around the District for Open Space. This purchase of 23 acres in Middle River to be used as passive open space is the latest in a long list of ways we have worked to improve the environment here in Middle River.” Said Councilwoman Cathy Bevins. “From dredging the Bird River to approving purchases of open space I have worked hard to protect, pressure, and improve the environment.”

The contract for this purchase of passive open space is between Baltimore County and Windlass Woods, LLC. The total purchase price is $100,000. The County Council will vote to approve the contract during the Monday November 5th Council Meeting.
